A recent climbing trip to Yosemite stayed with me over Thanksgiving. In addition to climbing, I shared several meals with my climbing friends and realized that the shared passion for climbing made our meals really special.

Often, we try to force special meals – by spending a lot of money or looking for extravagant experiences. But the uniqueness of a shared meal comes from the inside rather than from the outside. When we are connected in a special way to the people around us, what we eat and where matters less.
