Its election week and I am less concerned about who wins, and more about what our reaction as a country will be to the incoming president. The word civility has been on my mind lately and this week is a good time to remind ourselves that we cannot afford to forget about it. Being polite may not always be easy, but its the more effective and productive way to deal with issues we don’t agree with and to treat people that are different from us.

I have been silent for a few weeks with this podcast and this episode is an attempt to explain my reasons. And while there are many potential explanations – the bottom line is this – I haven’t gotten it done. And while I am tempted to blame 2020 with all its newness and not-normalness, I have also have to be honest with myself. I had ideas, but they haven’t turned into action. We like things that are easy. We try to avoid as much pain as we can. We want to pull through and get it over with.  However, some of our biggest accomplishments in life have come from doing hard things.

I learned to smile more when I came to this country. And while I initially had to force myself to smile, I now notice all the amazing positive side effects that smiling brings.

Start every day with intention and direction

Does it seem challenging to find an inner connection with ourselves? Our world can be noisy, overwhelming and distracting.

Yet, the direction for our life comes from within us.

You are enough – Quest For You 012

Happy morning!

Today could be a day that one day you remember.

Make it a great one so you have an amazing memory years from now.

I would like for you to consider this:

  • What if today you are enough?
  • You are perfect and complete the way you are
  • Nothing is missing.
  • You don’t need to learn anything else
  • You don’t need to change anything about your personality or your appearance
  • You are simply amazing
  • Your weaknesses are all strengths, and your strengths are all superpowers
  • You look great and perfect
  • Everything about you makes you happy
  • And everything you have is enough
  • You don’t need anything
  • The clothes in your closet are enough
  • The place where you live, your means of transportation,
  • Everything you own is all you need
  • The life you are living is plentiful and rich
  • There isn’t anything else you need to acquire

 

  • Can you imagine such a day for a minute?
  • How would you move through a day like that?
  • Maybe you would walk a little bit more upright?
  • Smile and make eye contact with people around you
  • Walk and speak with purpose, with conviction and passion
  • You feel great so you initiate conversations with people left and right
  • Why not? There is nothing you have to worry about, so you are free and open to connect with others

 

  • How would you feel on such a day?
  • The way you just walked tall and confident, smiling and connecting,
  • What do you think – how would this makes you feel?
  • And all the attention you are drawing from people because you are so open
  • You smile and people smile back
  • Feels great doesn’t it?
  • You feel successful, beautiful, nothing can get to you, what a day!
  • Your heart beats a bit faster, your voice speaks more clearer, and the sun shines brighter on such a day
  • And everything you do on this day works out perfectly,

 

 

  • I bet you had days like this
  • Now let me ask you –
  • How often do you have days like this?
  • Not often I assume
  • And let me ask you another question:
  • Why not?
  • Because I don’t have everything I need in life, and because I am unhappy, and I don’t like the way I look, and I am not good at my job, and and and ….
  • But let me ask you sincerely –
  • Why does not having everything prevent you from living at your best?
  • Did you notice in our hypothetical situation how your day went amazing?
  • How you felt great, and even made people around you feel great?
  • And you have had days like this in the past
  • And on those days your life wasn’t perfect
  • You thought it was maybe because you received some good news that day
  • and that resolved a couple of problems you had,
  • but the rest of your imperfect life was still there.
  • Whatever it was – it reflected in your outlook on the world for that day
  • It reflected in your physical presence

 

  • Could we turn it around it say –
  • What if you ignored all the things in your life that are imperfect, and yet, you still decided to have an amazing day every day?
  • What would happen?
  • What prevents you from showing up with your full attention and presence every day?
  • Is it your mind? Negative thoughts? Something someone said? Your work place?
  • The way you look? Lack of money? A tragic event in your past?
  • Then I say to this:
  • None of these circumstances will change until you change
  • Change starts with you

 

I spoke with a friend of a friend this weekend at a party. He had just started working again after being out of a job for 8 months. He told me that there were times he was so down and depressed that he felt it reflected in how he showed up for the interviews he had. He sometimes didn’t even feel like going because he already predicted he would not get the job.

 

 

  • Most of the things that bog us down are outside of us
    • We lost our job, our marriage, money, a friend, etc
  • Even if the world looks ever so dark and desolate – you still can decide to take on a positive outlook and show up with all your mighty power
  • I often ask myself:
  • How much power am I willing to give others over me?
  • How deep do I let circumstances affect my life?
  • This of course depends on the severity.
  • And I am not down-playing the tragic events that happen in this world on a daily basis,
  • We all will face some type of severe distress in our lives at some point
  • But I am saying this:

 

  • You may not be in control of those events but you are ALWAYS in control of your own state of mind
  • the events are not what determining factor – your spirit is

 

  • And the easiest way to feel better and more motivated and passionate about life is changing how you show up
  • Both – with your mind and with your physical body
  • Your mind is harder to control than your body.
  • Your body sets the tone for your mind
  • So stand up, look at yourself in the mirror and say “I can do this” –
  • That’s another benefit of exercising
  • Using your body, working your body – it feels good
  • I don’t know about you but I hardly feel exhausted after exercising.
  • I feel energized, in good spirits, because I trained my body and at the same time my mind
  • so if you cannot control the mind that is running you down again, then control your body
  • take care of it, work out, dress nice, walk tall and smile at the world
  • what do you have to lose?
  • You cannot control the outside world, so why would you let yourself be controlled by it
  • The weather, the reactions of other people, the state of the economy, what the president does,
  • Cant change any of it
  • So don’t let it affect your life, your success, your mental state
  • So start taking responsibility for your life
  • manage how your feel and how you show up for this world
  • Because you are enough
  • You have everything you need right this moment – enough to make this day a memorable one
  • If you come from a place of being enough, from a place of “I got this”, I can do this, then you will overcome any obstacle
