Zooming In – Quest For You 600

Celebrating 600 episodes coincides with the end of an epic year and I want to take to opportunity to invite you to reflect together with me. I want to help you see that this year may have not been the most productive, as you have witnesses with the irregularity of my last 100 episodes, but that doesn’t mean it was a waste. Lets zoom in on it and find meaning.

The moments bigger than us – Quest For You 598

The moments that are bigger than us tend to lead us into many directions – hiding, frantically searching for answers, or we feel overwhelmed. I have found that such moments, of which we have many this year, are meant to lead us back to ourselves. They require reflection and contemplation as it is often in that quiet time with ourselves that we get to the insights we need to move forward.

We need civility – Quest For You 597

Its election week and I am less concerned about who wins, and more about what our reaction as a country will be to the incoming president. The word civility has been on my mind lately and this week is a good time to remind ourselves that we cannot afford to forget about it. Being polite may not always be easy, but its the more effective and productive way to deal with issues we don’t agree with and to treat people that are different from us.

My silence – Quest For You 596

I have been silent for a few weeks with this podcast and this episode is an attempt to explain my reasons. And while there are many potential explanations – the bottom line is this – I haven’t gotten it done. And while I am tempted to blame 2020 with all its newness and not-normalness, I have also have to be honest with myself. I had ideas, but they haven’t turned into action. This episode may resonate with many of you as I am certain we all in stuck in some areas of our life. And to get unstuck, we just need to take one small step. This episode is my first step.

Choose yourself – Quest For You 595

In the last months, our lives have been pretty restricted, and we had to follow many guidelines devised by others. But that doesn’t mean we need to give up control of our entire life. Being restricted is not the end. We are still in control of our life. Before we echo what everyone says or does, lets think for ourselves and lets make decisions that are best for us. This requires a constant choosing of ourselves over others, or whatever may seem easiest.

Quest Stories: A Mother’s Story – QFY 592

A life-altering tragedy can be a stopping point for many of us. But not for Marilyn Washington Harris. Her love for her son has guided her through extremely challenging times, and at the same time gave her to fuel to turn her pain into action. Today she helps other mothers who have experienced loss through her organization named after her son and thereby inspires others to not stop with pain, but to move forward with love.

When things fall apart – Quest For You 591

Things have fallen apart lately quite a bit for all of us. Pema Chödrön’s book offers a light that can help us see in the darkness. And it begins with us. We have to change our grasping for safety and need for control and learn to see the lessons within the challenges before us.  Things falling apart then becomes good news, because it offers us the opportunity to begin again.

Quest Stories: A Food Story – QFY 590

Meet Sarah Germany – a chef, educator and writer who provides hands-on nutrition, health and wellness education to low income communities of color. She is currently seeking representation her first full-length work, Stories from the Kitchen: There’s Healing at the Table, Ya’ll. And this conversation offers insight into the powerful stories Sarah has to share on her journey of redefining food for us.

Intimacy with Fear – Quest For You 589

Who likes to talk about fear? The things that worry or scare us are better kept hidden. The problem is, fears find another way to show up. Sadly, that way may be less manageable – anger, jealousy, stress. There is an alternative that Pema Chödrön calls intimacy with fears. Its a befriending and a welcoming of those things that scare us, so we can see what they show us about ourselves and learn to move forward with them.

Becoming an Essentialist – Quest For You 588

Tune in as I am sharing some key insights gained from reading Essentialism, a book that reminded me again that I have more control over my life than I often think. Especially during these difficult times, we are distracted more than ever and getting the important goals done can be hard. This book is packed with tips on how to gain control over our life and the things that matter to us.

Do the minimal – Quest For You 587

Inspired by the book Essentialism, I have reconnected with the magic word Action. Action, no matter how tiny, will get us out of any rut. While the world is in a state of confusion and we feel helpless and floating from one day into the next without direction, we can still work towards our goals. Do the minimal viable thing you know will make a difference. It may not get you to your goal tomorrow, but it will pave the path to get there eventually.

Quest Stories: You have wings – QFY 586

Join me in this wonderful conversation with my friend and the Director of Business Development at the Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute, Mehmet Sevinç. He teaches us how to use personal stories to humanize our workplaces and our lives. When we share more of ourselves, we have the ability to build deeper and more meaningful connections with the people in our life.

Above the line – Quest For You 585

At any given time, we are either above the line or below the line. We are above the line when we come from a place of trust and openness. But quite often, we come from below the line, meaning we feel threatened. We react defensively because we want to be right, and that causes conflicts and misunderstanding. In this episode we will talk about becoming more aware of the line which then helps us shift from below to above and have more effective interactions with the people in our life.

Quest Stories: Together we can – QFY 584

Join my conversation with Cathy DeForest who started a powerful organization called VisionQuilt that aims to reduce gun violence in our communities through art and dialogue. Learn more about her impactful work at the AHC and allow yourself to shine your light onto this world with your gifts.

REPLAY: Life is better uncomfortable – Quest For You 576

Life currently is pretty uncomfortable for most of us. Yet, we continually should challenge ourselves and expose ourselves to just a bit more discomfort. I realized than a new challenge, even a small one, distracts me from my worries and makes me feel more alive. Listen to this replay episode originally published as in Episode 467 and see if you can tackle something new that will help you grow.

The new normal – Quest For You 575

Somehow we all adopted the new catchy phrase The New Normal, as if it were that easy to just jump from old to new. I think letting go is easier said than done. We grief over what we lost, especially if it mattered. Lets talk about the importance of a transition and allowing our feelings to be present for that.

Wise Hope – Quest For You 574

Hope can sometimes feel overly optimistic. But total negativity on the other hand also doesn’t seem right. Whats a hope that is active and engaged? Lets learn about wise hope. Wise hope encourages us to stay aware and involved, while recognizing our limitations. Wise hope is a good middle ground that keeps is mindful and present.

Look for meaning – Quest For You 572

Looking for the positives in a tough situation can be hard. When there is sadness, we need to allow it to be. And then we can look for meaning in the circumstance. We can look at what we have available to us, and what we can do with that. The search for meaning requires asking questions, having a conversation with ourselves, and some experimentation. But that keeps us engaged. And that will take us somewhere and not keep us stuck.

Quest Stories: Conflict is an opportunity – QFY 571

Join me for a deep and mindful conversation with Charlie Rebich, creator of Beyond Polarization, a project that aims to help us communicate better despite opposing viewpoints. In this interview you will learn that conflict does’t have to polarize us. Instead we can learn how to dance with it and thereby improve our relationships. Charlie shares simple mindfulness tools such as breathing and journaling that can help us stay centered when things heat up around us.
We talk about hope, how to remain positive in challenging times, and how to move forward.
I enjoyed this conversation immensely and I hope you will as well.

Is it good or is it bad? – Quest For You 570

When we face a negative situation, its natural to deem it as something bad. Equally, a pleasant surprise is often considered great news. But these are judgements in the moment and we don’t really know what this event turns into in the long-term. Right now we are all facing adverse circumstances, but can we know for sure what happens down the road? An ancient Chinese parable can help us shift our thinking.

Why getting up early matters – Quest For You 567

Getting up early, earlier than everyone else, and earlier than your normally would, is the most important routine you can have. The answer to the tasks you’re currently not tackling, and the goals you are currently not reaching lies in the early hours of the day. When everyone is asleep, you can get ahead. In this episode I share a strategy that works for me when I am determined to establish a new routine.

Are we becoming kinder? – Quest For You 565

Have you observed a trend towards more kindness and generosity in your community? People are stepping up by sharing their content more freely and being more available. There might be a correlation between peace and love. While we are forced into peace, we are reaching out and extending more love. We are seeking connection with others and I believe we are (finally) more proactive about it and more compassionate with each other. Its a good trend.

Life is who you are – Quest For You 564

Is life good when I am happy, or am I happy when life is good? Life is who you are. We are our life and we are responsible how it plays it.We can’t control what happens in the world around us, but we can control our inner world. This is an important consideration especially during the current pandemic where many of us are at a loss and looking for answers and certainty on the outside.

Quest Stories: From street-smart to life-smart (Part 2) – QFY 563

Part 2 of my interview with the amazing Dre, where he shares important life wisdom. Dre not only got himself out of trouble, but now lives a prosperous life which he continually improves upon. And – he helps others to do the same. He runs a barbershop in one of the poorest parts of Oakland, not to make money, but to make a difference. Listen to learn from Dre on how achieve a life true that is aligned with your values.

Quest Stories: From street-smart to life-smart (Part 1) – QFY 562

My friend Dre shares his very personal story that began in the poorest neighborhoods in Oakland. He still works in that area but now has a much different life. The streets have taught him principles he still uses and applies. He is a successful entrepreneur and in this first part of the interview, we meet Dre at his Barbershop where he talks about his journey. The lessons from his life can serve us today as we are trying to adjust to change and adversity.

Finding opportunity in this moment – Quest For You 561

Just as if a long-term relationship just ended, I have a hard time accepting my new reality. Yet, I realized that this is exactly what I need to do in order to move forward. Wishing for my old life to return keeps me hanging on to a past that will not come back. Without accepting, I can’t move forward. And most importantly, I will miss the opportunity that lies in this moment.

Let’s control what we can – Quest For You 560

It may feel as though we are a victim in this current pandemic because so much is out of our hands. Stuck at home, all we can do is worry and wait. The Stoics would disagree. Worry is an unproductive emotion that only hinders how we show up for ourselves and others every day. Lets go over some of the ancient Stoic advise and apply it. We can control more than we think.

Vision 2020: What do you see – Quest For You 557

Our vision has become very blurry. We had goals, we had resolutions, we had plans. And now? Everything is on hold.

This is a pause. It does not mean everything is lost. But it may look different than we thought.

Now is the time to reflect, to meditate, to become still and to clear our vision so we can see better again.

2020 is a year of clear vision – but it will require more effort to see.

Lets come together and help each other see. I created a Meetup group called Vision 2020. Join me.

I am one with all there is – Quest For You 556

Especially in difficult situations, we like to find someone to blame. We are in a pandemic, and yes, its easy to look east and just blame a country or a group of people. But that does not help us get out of the situation we are in. We are in this together. We are all connected. We are all part of the problem and the solution. Its our opportunity to contribute to this solution.

Peace begins with me – Quest For You 555

In this uncertain time, we look for any signal from the outside that can give us some peace. We read news, hoping it will get better. Sadly, there are very few lights at the end of what appears to be a long tunnel. We cannot find peace on the outside – peace always come from within. And when we find it within us, we can then carry it outward.

Quest Stories: The work begins on the inside (Part 2) – QFY 554

During these challenging times, where we all try to make sense of our life, Monk has a message for us. Its about coming home, not just physically, as we are all forced to do right now, but also in our heart. Come home to yourself, sit with yourself, and in the stillness, discover yourself. Your strength, your wisdom, and love for yourself and the world – its all within you. Allow Monk to teach to you a very critical lesson that can decide how you will overcome the current obstacle.

This moment is new – Quest For You 553

Every day these days I wake up feeling like its a brand new day. In absence of my regular routine, my plans and my appointments, I need to gather strength and courage to get my days moving along in a productive way. But I can also look at it as a new opportunity to do something different. To use the time I have in a new way. To change my approach, and come out of my routine-driven thinking and think in different, more creative ways.

10 mantras for peace – Quest For You 552

The uncertainty we are all currently facing presents a war-like scenario within ourselves. Stress and anxiety go up, potentially leading to panic and depression. We need to find peace. Sounds easier said, than done, I know. I have the same battle within me. Meditation has helped me to accept what is. And the 10 mantras of peace recently shared with me by my company CEO also are very helpful. Enjoy them, take them in, listen to them as often as need be. Until you find some peace.

We are all in this together – Quest For You 551

An unscripted episode during an unscripted time. An unprecedented time, a difficult time. And yet, I still want to bring you a few thoughts that I am encouraging you to write out. In this strange time I don’t find it so easy to just read or learn a language, as so many people now recommend. Its normal to be worried. What helps me is to write my worries out, and then give them a time limit each day. And then, I try to shine, in whatever way I can. The connection with others is critical now that we are more physically isolated than ever before.

Tips for challenging times – Quest For You 549

These are uncertain times, when its easy to get lost in worry and become stressed out about the future. But with this episode, I want to help us get centered and focused on the one thing we can control – our inner state. And with just a few shifts in our thinking and our daily actions, we can get back on our path, despite the turmoil we are facing. This is a much-needed episode for many of us who are struggling to find meaning in everything that is happening at the moment.

The case of coronavirus – Quest For You 548

This is a time of great concern and with this episode I want to bring you the critical facts I believe we need to know to be proactively prepared.

We don’t need to panic, but we also cannot ignore this virus. And even if it disappears tomorrow, we need this dress rehearsal to be prepared for future epidemics, which are guaranteed to come. Take basic precautions and be safe.

Our beloved devices – Quest For You 547

We love our devices and depend on them. But they can give us a false sense of connectedness. Especially social media makes us feel like we belong to a larger group of people. But real connection happens one on one. Those are the humans we interact with in their entirety – not just via words on a screen. We don’t show who we are on our devices, we only express ourselves. To establish meaningful connections, we need to put our phone away and speak to the person next to us on the bus.

Quest Stories: Be open to inspiration – QFY 546

Cathy Luchetti is an author who published 10 books, and is now working on the 11th one which we touch on in the episode. Her focus for most of those works has been the stories of the people of the American frontier, a term she defines in this episode. She has chronicled stories of women and men, their daily lives and struggles in a way that had not been done before and even caught the attention of former First Lady Laura Bush. But what fascinated me the most was everything we shared. Here I am, in the house of a person I have never met, and we both deeply appreciate some of the same things –
o We both know Texas, where Cathy grew up and an appreciation for the desert
o We both enjoy the outdoors, and most interestingly, be both love climbing
 Cathy has summited peaks as high as 20,000 ft
o we talk about our love for being outside, but also the conflicts it brings when it puts us behind on our work
o my favorite author is also Cathy’s favorite author and you’ll have to listen to find out who it is
Cathy, like many others I have interviewed, has travelled near and far. She, on the other hand, has brought not only material mementos back from her trip, but she has also shown an interest in other cultures, and then incorporates her learnings into her books. What a great way to travel.
In many ways, Cathy is a self-starter. The adventures she undertook didn’t fall in her lap. She stepped into them with some courage and a willingness to learn, and then she remained persistent and figured out a way to make them work for her. Don’t we face situations like that as well in our life? Why not try the same – be open-minded and willing to be a little bit uncomfortable and then see where inspiration takes us.

Conditioning your mind – Quest For You 545

Conditioning our mind is training our brain like we train our biceps in the gym. We direct our thoughts repeatedly into the direction we want them to go. We envision an end goal like we do with our bodies. Often we are not aware where our mind is at. This may have us focused on areas that are not necessarily a major priority.  We need to be clear what we want and then we need to dedicate time daily to focus. Even though we have dreams and hopes – if we don’t think about them, they are are not likely to come to fruition.

Quest Stories: Discovering authenticity outside the comfort zone – QFY 543

Rafael is one of those courageous humans that doesn’t settle with the status quo. He is not afraid of discomfort. And in this wonderful conversation which took place on a warm Sunday afternoon here in Oakland, you will discover what others do to challenge themselves.
We both share a love for the spoken word but Rafael really works hard on developing this skill both through Toastmasters and by taking improv classes.
He talks about how especially the improv practice has enriched his day-to-day interactions with others

This conversation was invigorating because it made me reconsider some of my approaches.
It was fun, enriched by his cats and the some of the topics we touched.
It was touching because Rafael was not afraid to open up and share very personal information.

Allow yourself to be challenged into a little bit of discomfort by my friend Rafael.

What is the Quest For You – Quest For You 542

After over 500 episodes released, its time to talk about my vision. What is Quest For You, some of you may wonder.

Quest For You is a journey to yourself. It involves getting to know yourself, from the inside out. Who are you? What makes you tick? What do you like? What do you dream about?

During the course of our lives, we have tuned our inner voice out and follow the beat of the outside drum – family advice, marketing and advertising, what others do, media, what looks good, sounds good, seems profitable. We rarely tune inward to see who we are, and what we want.

Quest For You is that journey and I want to invite you to walk with me. I see it as consisting of 4 stages, which I cover in this episode. Let’s get back to who we are. Lets learn to access our inner guidance. Lets work on becoming the person we really want to be.

What makes you feel alive – Quest For You 541

I spent a recent weekend without major plans and went with the flow. And it turned out to be a wonderful weekend, where I felt present and alive. Sometimes we become overly focused on one or two endeavors only, and we neglect the other parts of our life that also bring us joy. Its important to change up the routine once in a while to see if there is something else that may need our attention.

Quest Stories: Traveling to get to know yourself – QFY 540

Nancy has travelled the world and thereby became a person that looks at life with a more open mind. Today, when she faces challenges, she takes a step back and is not afraid to experiment with techniques and approaches, some of which she shares with us. Nancy pays close attention to herself and the way she shows up i the world. Her thoughts have inspired me to be more mindful and I hope you have similar takeaways from this enlightening conversation with my friend.

Rare friends – Quest For You 539

We need more of those rare friends. What makes them rare is not that they barely exist, but that we don’t see them. Because they are different from us, we don’t notice them. Yet, we need them. They may not make us feel warm and fuzzy like our other friends, but they challenge us and make us feel better about ourselves in the long run.

Quest Stories: Start by noticing – QFY 537

Meet my friend Susie Wyshak and learn how to connect with people. We spent a wonderful afternoon talking about everything from chocolate to money, Toastmasters and how to talk to strangers. Susie is full of ideas, insights, and got me thinking about different approaches on how I connect with others. Allow yourself to be inspired to step a little bit outside of your comfort zone. You can find Susie at foodstarter.com and connect with her there. Enjoy.

Just like chocolate – Quest For You 536

If we treated our loved ones the way we treat an exquisite piece of chocolate, I believe our relationships would improve. The presence and the mindfulness that we bring when we savor food is the same we need to bring to the exchanges with the people in our life. Because without continued effort, those relationships lose spark and we lose interest.

Say what you need – Quest For You 535

I am a direct person and I never thought I had a problem saying what I want. Until I began listening to my friends. And I learned that I may be direct, but I am not clear. Directness is often emotionally charged and therefore not well received. Being clear with our needs however, is much harder. Lets discover what is holding us back from saying what we want and learn to get better at it.

Your examined life – QFY 534

Every day we are presented with a multitude of opportunities for self-reflection. But we miss many of them because we are distracted or don’t pay attention. When we take some time to examine them, we turn inward. Many of our beliefs and behaviors have been shaped by others and we have them autopilot. When we look closer, we may notice what is not working and no longer effective and change it for the better.

Will this matter – QFY 533

Will this matter? This is a question we need to ask ourselves more often – when we get frustrated with minor occurrences or when we don’t get what we hoped for. Will this matter tomorrow, a year from now? This is a question that helps us distinguish the small stuff that we often sweat from the big things we need to shift our focus to.

Choose what bothers you – QFY 532

We decide over what bother us. As much as we want to blame the other person or the unfavorable circumstance, which may have triggered us, we are in charge of the response. And quite often, the best response is to not do anything. Instead of wasting valuable time and energy on trivial matters, we should spend it on those that do matter.

You are in control – QFY 531

When it comes to our goals, we often give up control to easily. We let our environment decide what we can and cannot do. We have to remind ourselves that we are in control of our time and our decisions. We select what is important minute by minute. And if we don’t get to make progress in the areas that matter to us, then its time we begin to manage them more intentionally.

Magic Walks – QFY 530

Walks can seem insignificant. As an exercise, they don’t seem tough enough. As way to get out of the house, they may not appear adventurous enough. And they may sound boring and time-consuming. Yet I have found that there is magic in walking. A few quiet minutes away from our tasks and alone with ourselves can bring answers, ideas and balance. A walk may be just what we need when everything else seems to much.

Happy Lunar New Year – QFY 529

Lunar New is a holiday celebrated by millions and this year is the year of the rat. Its a special year of new beginnings and special opportunities. Let yourself be inspired by this ancient tradition, which I summarize in this episode, and go after your goals and dreams knowing you are set up for success this year.

I am worthy – QFY 528

Sometimes we don’t feel worthy in certain areas of our life. This often means that there is a gap between what we want and what we are getting. This is a sign that we need to take action and speak up. Worthiness doesn’t come magically by telling ourselves we deserve it. We actually have to do something about it.

The power of people – QFY 527

When you find people that have the same aspirations as you, your chance of reaching your goals and dreams is much higher than attempting it alone. Often our close friends are not the ones that support us with our wild ideas. We have to make the bold move and go out there and meet those people.

The secret to success – QFY 524

The secret to success is not really a secret. Its quite obvious, but sometimes we don’t see it because we don’t want to. Thats when we start searching for miracles in the most complicated places, while the answer, the secret, is right in front of us. Tune in to this episode to find out what the secret to success is 😉

Grateful for my mom – QFY 523

My relationship with my mom has always been a little bumpy, and even though now that we are both older we are getting along better, there is still quite some distance between us. However, after reflecting on her visit here in California, I have realized that I have a lot to be grateful for. And I want to inspire you to also look not just for the things that bother you with your close relatives, but try to see where some of those exact things may have actually been a driver for something positive in your life.

Time with my mom – QFY 521

My mom visited from Germany over Christmas. It was a time completely consumed with activities and now that she is gone I am reflecting on it. Time with mom was time I wanted, but at the same time it was time I didn’t have for myself. We all go through periods where we give up our time for others. In reflecting on it, I want to share a few insights on coming to terms with such a time and embracing it.

My goal-setting technique – QFY 520

Goals helped me reach dreams I never thought possible for me. And in this episode I share my process with you. I walk you through the categories I use that help me define my goals. I also share tips with you that help you set the right goals for yourself.  You can download the worksheet that goes along with this episode from my website. Enjoy this process. Its meant to challenge and change you.

Silence begins within – QFY 519

Surrounded by a quiet world does not guarantee inner peace. Often it appears as if we are calm, when we are really just keeping busy and distracting ourselves. Let this holiday season be an opportunity to access our inner silence so we can find peace, balance and answers to our important questions.

Happy Holidays QFY fans!

Quest Stories: Its all you – QFY 518

My conversation with Dave Conley (@davecconley) was packed with practical advice to jumpstart your new year and your best life yet. Dave has faced major obstacles in his life and he shares how returning to the basics, those that we often forget or ignore, has helped him become who he is today. He has turned his entire life around, starting from his health, his mindset to his profession. If you want to establish the habits that will help you accomplish those long-awaited goals, then listen closely and begin implementing some of Dave’s advice.

Do it alone – QFY 517

When it comes to the things we love to do, we often wait on others to go along. And when they are not available, we hesitate, we are scared, and we stay home. When your friends don’t have time, or when you don’t have the right people to something with that you want to do, then do it alone. Take a chance and go. You are guaranteed to meet others eventually who have the same passion as you and will accompany you on your journey.

Adventure lies in the unknown – QFY 516

Inspired by my recent trip to Utah, were every day was a surprise, I realized that we need more adventure in our day-to-day lives. Our predictable routines and regular schedules remove the excitement that we often only notice when we are on vacation because everything is new. But there are small things we can do that add a little unknown to our days, and with that open the possibility of a different, maybe even a better outcome.

Quest Stories: Speaking is connecting – QFY 515

Laura has a gift for not only speaking well, but for also connecting with her audience in an authentic way. She shares her passion for speaking, future dreams of helping people find ways to express themselves through storytelling, and she offers unique ideas on how to connect better with ourselves. In this interview it became clear to me that in order to better connect with others, I also need to take care of connecting well with myself.

Learning from anger – QFY 514

Anger is a difficult emotion. But by making an effort to understand it better, we can improve from our often defensive response to a more compassionate one. Anger is usually the escalation of other emotions that we have tried to hide. By addressing those, we can often eliminate the angry outburst. Anger happens, but it needs to be addressed so it doesn’t repeat itself.

Don’t go back – QFY 513

We made the decision to move forward, but something pulls us back. We are wavering, reconsidering, contemplating about going back. Because the past is known and the future is scary. But having to go through the decision again is much scarier. Trust it. Move forward. Once you decided to let go, don’t go back.

Quest Stories: Learning how to breathe – QFY 512

Today I bring you a very special Quest Story. Miguel (@centaurathletics00) shares his quest for himself – as he entered prison and as he came out, trying to build a life and find himself. He talks about the importance that books played in shaping his character and how his love for other people helped him navigate through life. Today Miguel is a successful trainer with a unique approach to exercise and health.

Life is about opportunities – QFY 510

Life happens to us, but it does not have to happen for us. We need to look for the opportunities, even if they seem hard to find. An inspiring live speech by TED speaker Janine Shepherd has inspired me to bring you this episode along with some wonderful tools she shared that help us look for the gift in every moment, no matter how difficult.

Quest Stories: Why this story and why now – QFY 509

Sometimes our career paths take huge turns. Mark went from photography to chaplaincy and speaks about he applies intuition and creativity in his work with the dying. What I am thankful for – QFY 508

During this time of year – Thanksgiving and Christmas, I like to consciously think about what I am thankful for. I am sharing 3 key aspects of my life that I cannot live without. As you listen, I encourage you to reflect on these same areas of your life and see if you can find gratitude for them. And if that is challenging, then it could be an indicator that it might be time to change a few things. Happy Thanksgiving.

Don’t waste your time – QFY 507

Have you ever taken the time to see where your time goes? We waste time when we don’t consciously spend our time on the things that matter. As we are heading towards the end of yet another year, and another set of New Years resolutions, I recommend taking some stock to check in with ourselves. If we are not spending our time on the things that fulfill us, then we don’t need to set more goals. Lets focus on the quality of our time spend rather than on the things we achieved.

Quest Stories: On leaving, arriving and finding our path – QFY 506

Meet my friend Bipin, author of a beautiful collection of short stories titled Notes of a Mediocre Man. We talked about Bipin’s journey from India to America, touching on topics I as an immigrant relate to as well – loss of home, searching for a new home and forging a new path in a new country. Finally, and after many years of sacrifice, Bipin successfully transitioned from corporate America into his passion of writing, a life that is not without its own challenges. Bipin’s life and stories greatly inspire me and I hope you find this interview just as enlightening.

Don’t wait with your goals – QFY 505

Just because the end of the year is near, doesn’t mean your goals have to wait until next year. Even if you tried and failed, you can try again. In this episode I encourage you to take the smallest step you can think of. As long as you are doing something, you are are inching your way closer to success than if you do nothing at all.

The people I like – QFY 504

The people I like are people that I am drawn to because they live the actions, behaviors and words that I also want to live. I look up to them because they set the example for the kind of person I want to be. And those are the people we should surround ourselves with. By spending time with the people we like, we become more like them.

Change is not hard – QFY 501

We like to say that change is hard but quite often we use it as an excuse to when can’t fully commit to the change. Change is not hard. We change all the time – when we want to, or when we have to. All growth comes through change. Yet, we are scared of change. Lets talk about what we can do to make change our friend and maximize our growth.
