In the last months, our lives have been pretty restricted, and we had to follow many guidelines devised by others. But that doesn’t mean we need to give up control of our entire life. Being restricted is not the end. We are still in control of our life. Before we echo what everyone says or does, lets think for ourselves and lets make decisions that are best for us. This requires a constant choosing of ourselves over others, or whatever may seem easiest. 

Above the line – Quest For You 585

At any given time, we are either above the line or below the line. We are above the line when we come from a place of trust and openness. But quite often, we come from below the line, meaning we feel threatened. We react defensively because we want to be right, and that causes conflicts and misunderstanding. In this episode we will talk about becoming more aware of the line which then helps us shift from below to above and have more effective interactions with the people in our life. 

Look for meaning – Quest For You 572

Looking for the positives in a tough situation can be hard. When there is sadness, we need to allow it to be. And then we can look for meaning in the circumstance. We can look at what we have available to us, and what we can do with that. The search for meaning requires asking questions, having a conversation with ourselves, and some experimentation. But that keeps us engaged. And that will take us somewhere and not keep us stuck. 

Why getting up early matters – Quest For You 567

Getting up early, earlier than everyone else, and earlier than your normally would, is the most important routine you can have. The answer to the tasks you’re currently not tackling, and the goals you are currently not reaching lies in the early hours of the day. When everyone is asleep, you can get ahead. In this episode I share a strategy that works for me when I am determined to establish a new routine.

These are uncertain times, when its easy to get lost in worry and become stressed out about the future. But with this episode, I want to help us get centered and focused on the one thing we can control – our inner state. And with just a few shifts in our thinking and our daily actions, we can get back on our path, despite the turmoil we are facing. This is a much-needed episode for many of us who are struggling to find meaning in everything that is happening at the moment.

This is a time of great concern and with this episode I want to bring you the critical facts I believe we need to know to be proactively prepared. 

We don’t need to panic, but we also cannot ignore this virus. And even if it disappears tomorrow, we need this dress rehearsal to be prepared for future epidemics, which are guaranteed to come. Take basic precautions and be safe.

Conditioning your mind – Quest For You 545

Conditioning our mind is training our brain like we train our biceps in the gym. We direct our thoughts repeatedly into the direction we want them to go. We envision an end goal like we do with our bodies. Often we are not aware where our mind is at. This may have us focused on areas that are not necessarily a major priority.  We need to be clear what we want and then we need to dedicate time daily to focus. Even though we have dreams and hopes – if we don’t think about them, they are are not likely to come to fruition. 

Rare friends – Quest For You 539

We need more of those rare friends. What makes them rare is not that they barely exist, but that we don’t see them. Because they are different from us, we don’t notice them. Yet, we need them. They may not make us feel warm and fuzzy like our other friends, but they challenge us and make us feel better about ourselves in the long run.

Say what you need – Quest For You 535

I am a direct person and I never thought I had a problem saying what I want. Until I began listening to my friends. And I learned that I may be direct, but I am not clear. Directness is often emotionally charged and therefore not well received. Being clear with our needs however, is much harder. Lets discover what is holding us back from saying what we want and learn to get better at it.

Choose what bothers you – QFY 532

We decide over what bother us. As much as we want to blame the other person or the unfavorable circumstance, which may have triggered us, we are in charge of the response. And quite often, the best response is to not do anything. Instead of wasting valuable time and energy on trivial matters, we should spend it on those that do matter. 

You are in control – QFY 531

When it comes to our goals, we often give up control to easily. We let our environment decide what we can and cannot do. We have to remind ourselves that we are in control of our time and our decisions. We select what is important minute by minute. And if we don’t get to make progress in the areas that matter to us, then its time we begin to manage them more intentionally.  

Daily Tasks – Quest For You 055

I believe in simple tools that help me stay on top of my goals. My favorite is a daily task list. It helps me stay focused on the goals I have started and it ensure I get going on the things I have been procrastinating on. I share how you can go about implementing a task list without overwhelming yourself.
